How We Prepare Students for the AP Calculus Exam
Juni Mathematics is excited to release our AP Calculus course! This course is for students who are interested in the study of Calculus or are preparing to take the AP Calculus exam in the spring.
AP Calculus is a rigorous course — aligned with College Board standards and designed to prepare students for the AP Calculus AB or BC exam. The course is filled with skill-based problems, word problems, practice multiple-choice questions, and free-response questions.
This course is suitable for students who are taking AP Calculus concurrently in school or are studying for the exam independently. Due to the AP Calculus exam’s rigor, we require that students have completed Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry as a prerequisite of this course.
How We Designed Our Curriculum
Our curriculum team, comprised of writers with an in-depth knowledge of mathematics, approached this course with three goals in mind:
- Ensure our topics were aligned with the demands of the College Board curriculum.
- Design experiences for students like this 3D visualization throughout the curriculum to give them a conceptual understanding — suitable for applying these skills to a variety of situations. These models provide students an intuitive understanding of the structure of 3D objects to aid their visualization skills when working on a 2D piece of paper.
- Prepare students to tackle the AP Calculus AB or BC exam through a large bank of problems — skill-based, word problems, multiple-choice, and free-response questions.
In addition to offering a detailed curriculum, we’ve also prepared our instructors to pace their instruction according to their students’ needs and the length of time before the AP Calculus exam on May 4, 2021. Our pacing calendar gives students about one month to take practice exams and hone in on filling any gaps before game day.
Launching our AP Calculus curriculum has been an exciting moment for our team. We’ve worked diligently to create a throughline in all of the courses leading up to the AP Calculus course.
